WARM SPRINGS STAKE YOUTH PIONEER TREK
JUNE 2-4, 2022
Activities and events will be added and updated as they are determined based on health and safety guidelines.
When: June 2-4, 2022
Who: All youth turning 12 in 2022 up to age 18.
What: Youth and leaders will reenact some of the faith-building experiences of the pioneers who journeyed to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1800s. Youth will be organized into groups called “families,” wear pioneer-era clothing, pull handcarts, and participate in pioneer activities (games, skills, muskets, archery, log splitting, swimming, dancing), and devotionals! Total TREK walking distance is 13+ miles.
Where: 12929 Mile High Ranch Rd., Cherry Valley, CA 92223
How: Please plan to meet at the Warm Springs Stake Center the morning of June 2nd. The Stake will be providing buses for traveling.
Cost: Each participant should contribute $25.00. Ward and stake budgets will cover the remainder of the expense. We hope that the youth will earn this ON THEIR OWN so they have vested interest. Ward fund raisers will not be needed this year to pay for or supplement this activity.
TRAVEL CLOTHES: Set aside one set of pioneer clothing to wear the first day! Consult the Trek Packing List for full details on what to pack.
WHAT NOT TO PACK: Please do not pack electronic devices, T-shirts, flip-flops, baseball caps, or shorts.
PLEASE LABEL ALL OF YOUR ITEMS! A lot of people, a lot of stuff, a lot of opportunity for things to get mixed up.
EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS:
President Jake Marshall (702) 467-2013
Brother Spencer Quinton (702) 466-0076
Sister Ali Martin (205) 515-9259
SAFETY REMINDERS: Dehydration and heat-related illnesses are our biggest concerns. Please remind your youth to drink plenty of water!! Sometimes, youth don’t want to drink because they don’t want to use the porta-potty. We need to remind them that the alternative to drinking plenty of water and using the porta-potty is an IV needle for rehydration!
